Y! A! N! K! E! E! S!
Here come the Yankees!!
Let's get behind and cheer the Yankees!!!
The legendary New York Yankees. Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Lou Gehrig, Derek Jeter. To get a baseball cap, a bat, or a jersey signed by one of those New York Yankees players would be a dream come true for many baseball fans and sports memorabilia collectors. To get a custom poster size photograph of 1963 New York Yankees team signed by all of the players as a token of appreciation for his commitment, dedication, and hard work was probably the greatest birthday present that a boy may have received in his lifetime.
Being a batboy is not as all fun and games and hanging around with your childhood heroes. In addition to keeping up with their schoolwork and house chores the batboys are expected to arrive several hours before the beginning of a game to get the field ready and set up the equipment in the dugout. After the practice or a game, it’s clean, clean, clean, and clean some more, not to forget taking care of dirty shoes, sweaty uniforms, and other parts of athletic attire. But for most of those who did get to be part of the legendary team, it was all worth it, and for the reset of their lives they had great stories to tell and memories to share.
Unfortunately, with time, no matter how well they were kept, many old color photographs fade and change colors. If some old black and white photographs can be treated to remove the yellow tint, with color photos, there is little that can be done; especially if a photograph has signatures or inscriptions made with markers or ink pens.
In such cases a digital restoration and retouching becomes an only option for bringing back the vibrancy of the original colors, sharpness of images, and clarity of the inscriptions. Typically the process involves making high resolution scan of a photograph to assure capturing even a smallest detail on the photograph, down to the stitching on a baseball and pinstripes on the team’s jerseys. Then the digital image is color corrected to bring back the original tones. And scratches, rips or tears are carefully retouched from the photograph, while making sure that the important parts of a photo remain true to their original appearances.
